Naomi Oreskes, professor of history and science studies and provost of the Sixth College at UC San Diego, has been awarded the Francis Bacon Prize in recognition of outstanding scholarship in the history of science and technology. (8.19.09) San Diego's School of the Creative and Performing Arts held its first-ever Summer Intensive, a two-week session of workshops led by professional artists, including bassist and Music Professor Mark Dresser. Roger Reynolds, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and Professor of Music, has been appointed University Professor by the University of California Board of Regents. Reynolds is only the 36th UC faculty member since 1960 to be honored with the title – and the first artist.
This designation is one of the highest honors bestowed on UC faculty. (8.4.09) Events
