Welcome Week, an annual tradition at UC San Diego, fosters Triton Spirit for both new and returning students. Take part in the fun and supportive activities, services and programs to find your place, make friends, and live the Triton Spirit! Welcome Week takes place September 19-26, 2009. Convocation is on September 22 at 4:30pm.

Kenneth (double major in Third World Studies and Microbiology) studied in a full-immersion (direct enrollment) fall semester program at the University of Ghana in Accra where he investigated how the time-lag between onset of malarial fever and the point a decision is made to take a child to a health facility is affected by a Ghanaian familys income. His conclusions highlight how poverty negatively impacts the medical treatment as well as the prevention of malaria, an illness that contributes to 20,000 annual childhood deaths in Ghana.

He has also been nominated for the Forum on Education Abroad Undergrad Research awards, which is the national award for undergrad research completed abroad.

The winners of the 2009 Warren Writing Literary Contest were announced at the Warren College Student Leader and Scholar Ceremony on Friday, May 29. The winners and entries of the nine finalists are published online. Thank you to all who participated, and congratulations to our winners:
