Welcome!

Welcome back, ERC Faculty and Students. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to a great year.

We welcome new freshmen and transfer students. Your first year here promises to be a fantastic year. There is so much to look forward to at ERC and UC San Diego. Make sure to take a variety of classes, meet and mingle with a diverse group of people and experience the La Jolla/San Diego area and most of all study abroad. These are the best years to make lifelong friendships and take advantage of numerous opportunities.

Our first week here we have the fun Welcome Week and Convocation. Make sure to attend a few of the activities. They will help you familiarize yourself with the campus and the diverse student population of the University, and begin your transition to a full fledged UC San Diego student. Check out our "local" Welcome Week activities (Otter Pops, Scavenger Hunt, UnOlympics T-shirt Decoration, Old School Games and Ellie's BBQ) as well as the University-wide ones. Last year we won the Golden Shoe in the UnOlympics with a thrilling routine. Let's make a point to win it again!

Alan Houston, a professor of political science and an internationally recognized scholar of early-modern British and American political thought, has been appointed provost of Eleanor Roosevelt College at the University of California, San Diego, effective January 1, 2010.

Important changes regarding fees and class cancellation for Fall: All mandatory registration fees and tuition must be paid in full prior to the first day of classes or you'll be dropped from your classes and waitlists. Read more about Fall registration payment. Fall registration fees are due Friday, September 18, 2009.

Welcome Week, an annual tradition at UC San Diego, fosters Triton Spirit for both new and returning students. Take part in the fun and supportive activities, services and programs to find your place, make friends, and live the Triton Spirit! Welcome Week is September 19th-26th.
