Become a UC San Diego Advocate

In a message sent via email to those registered as Advocates, UC President Yudof shares these recent advocacy updates:

• Chancellor Fox and I have been meeting with as many influential groups as possible, asking them to join our fight.  I am also making frequent trips to Sacramento to talk with Governor Schwarzenegger and other important legislative leaders to discuss how vital the University is to California and its people.  Chancellor Fox traveled to Sacramento last month to meet with Senate President Pro Tem Steinberg, Senate Appropriations Chair Kehoe, Senate Republican Leader Hollingsworth, Assembly Speaker-Elect Perez, Assembly Republican Leader Garrick and Assembly Higher Education Chair Brownley to increase awareness and support for UC San Diego statewide.
• UC San Diego held a campus advocacy training session on January 29 to prepare advocates  for the upcoming budget and legislative session. 
• University Alumni Directors and Presidents have begun mobilizing our vast alumni network.  In fact, the UCSD Alumni Association has a dedicated advocacy committee.
• Campus student-led activities in the last two months have included letter-writing campaigns, a teach-in, and face-to-face visits with local lawmakers.
