CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS 2010
The Health Sciences Grad School Housing is moving along nicely. We're excited to build this first on-campus housing for medical and graduate students.
Construction of the Muir College Apartments continues... the approximately 91,000 square foot project consists of two 9-story buildings, located on what is now the open lawn area south of Stewart Commons 225 and just west of Humanities and Social Sciences 250.
Immediate Street, pedestrian walkway, and Recreation Facility Impacts (for demolition and construction work through July
2011): vehicular traffic on adjacent streets around the site, and parking lot P201 will be impacted at times to accommodate construction activities and utility installations. There will be occasions when Scholars Lane will be restricted to one lane of traffic, and ingress and egress for parking lot P201 controlled. During these times flagmen will be directing traffic.
South of Scholars Lane, the existing sand exercise area, sand volleyball courts, and two tennis courts will be used for construction staging and
will not be available for use until July 2011. Pedestrian circulation towards campus through Stewart Commons from Tenaya 215, Tioga 210, and Tuolomne 230 Apartments will be re-directed away from Stewart Commons northward towards Muir Lane until July 2010.
Renovation of the Stewart Dining Commons Facility began on September 8, 2009. The approximately 16,500 sq. ft. project consists of complete interior renovation to existing 2nd floor dining hall and kitchen (Sierra Summit), and fire sprinkler improvements to 1st and 2nd floors. Stewart Commons, Building 225 is located in Muir College South of Muir Lane and West of McGill Hall.
Immediate Street and pedestrian walkway impacts for demolition and construction work: from September 8, 2009 through July 2010, vehicular traffic on adjacent streets around the site, and the southerly portion of parking lots P207 and P208 will be impacted at times to accommodate construction activities. There will be occasions when Muir Lane will be restricted to one lane of traffic. During these times flagmen will be directing traffic.
Pedestrian circulation towards campus through Stewart Commons from Tenaya 215, Tioga 210, and Tuolomne 230 Apartments will be re-directed away from Stewart Commons northward towards Muir Lane until July 2010.
Detour signs for vehicles and pedestrian traffic will also be posted.

They will be located on what is now the open lawn area, basketball courts, and part of Parking Lot P104, just west of Fleet Housing and just south of the Housing & Dining Services Administration Building which is currently under construction.
Immediate Street Impacts for Demolition and Construction Work: from September 1, 2009 until July 2011, vehicular traffic on adjacent streets around the site, and the westerly portion of parking lots P103 and P104 will be impacted at times to accommodate construction activities and utility installations. There will be occasions when Scholars Drive South will be restricted to one lane of traffic, and ingress and egress for parking lots P103 and P104 controlled. During these times flagmen will be directing traffic. Detour signs for vehicles and pedestrian traffic will also be posted.

The North Campus Housing Phase 2 project includes the construction of seven buildings totaling over 266,000 gross square feet. In addition to student living units, the project includes administrative offices, conference facilities, a small bistro/café, market, laundry and other ancillary type spaces. The project is located in the North Campus neighborhood and will encompass the existing parking lot P-357.
Immediate Street Impacts: Continuing until June 2011 vehicular traffic around the site and on adjacent street will be impacted at times to accommodate construction activities and utility installations. There will be occasions when Scholars Drive North and portions of North Point Drive will have only one traffic lane open. Flagmen will direct traffic during those times of limited accessibility. Pedestrian sidewalks adjacent to the project site will not be impacted. Additional alerts will be issued throughout the construction period as needed.
