Dining Plan
Hi. Welcome to Dining Services.
We're here to plan, cook, and clean... so you can concentrate on college!
Your 2010 Housing contract includes one of three Dining Dollar Plans based on your Housing assignment:
- The 3400 Full Meal Plan (100 Dollars per week)
- The 2893 ResHal Minimum Meal Plan (85 Dollars per week)
- The 2220 Apartment Minimum Meal Plan (65 Dollars per week)
Dining Dollars are linked to your campus ID card, and can be used in all UC San Diego Dining Services restaurants and markets. Each purchase is automatically deducted from your account balance- just like a bank debit card.
The Dining Dollar Plan is designed to be flexible for an array of lifestyles and appetites.
In a hurry or don't like to cook? Use your Dining Dollars in any of our restaurants for a quick latte or made-to-order meal. Hosting a study group? Shop at your local retail store to pick up snacks and drinks for a get-together at your apartment!
Place and Market Locations
Your Dining Dollars can be used to shop at any Place and Market location on campus. PMs are like convenience stores, only better: they're a "place" to hang out and a "market" to purchase anything you need... without leaving campus! Choose from locally grown produce, organics, vegan items, frozen meats and poultry, gifts, and other goodies.
Remember, you can always add Dining Dollars, Buy Up to a more inclusive Dining Plan, or open a Triton Cash account.

This new pilot program provides students with the option of transferring Dining Dollars between their accounts.
How It Works:
Students who want to transfer Dining Dollars between their accounts must BOTH come to the Dining Plan Office, located in the Housing • Dining • Hospitality Services building, during business hours (M-F 8 am to 4:30 pm) to complete the proper authorization form.
A student can then transfer his/her Dining Dollars to the other student’s account. The donor is required to leave the budget calendar amount for spring quarter in their account based on the week they visit the office. Please refer to the budget calendar for the residence they live in: Res Hall, Apartment or The Village. The transaction is instantaneous.
Donations expire at the end of the academic year.
As Part Of This Program, HDH will:
- track all transactions
- track all inquiries (questions, complaints, concerns, suggestions)
- generate a usage report upon completion of the program
Important: Dining Dollar transfers must be made by Sunday, June 6. All Dining Dollars expire at the end of the academic year.

Your Housing contract includes a Dining Plan; however, your Dining Dollars need to stretch slightly further, since The Village Housing contracts are based on a 267 days (rather than undergraduate Housing contracts based on 236 days). Please Note: We encourage all new students to attend the annual Convocation dinner. Most of the Dining Services locations will be closed for dinner that evening, and a non-refundable deduction of 10 Dining Dollars will be made from the accounts of Freshmen and Transfer Students.
One Dining Dollar yields one dollar of purchasing power. The Dining Plan cannot be changed, dropped, transferred, or refunded.
