UC Students - Registration

Enrollment and Registration Instructions for visiting UC Students (non-UCSD students):

Enrollment for UC Students (non-UCSD) begins April 19, 2010.
The Visiting Student Application will be available April 19.

All UC Students must complete a four-step process to enroll in courses. Students are responsible for understanding all of the information on the Summer Session website including drop deadlines and refund policies. Visit TritonLink for more important details.

1. Obtain a UserID and Password to access the WebReg system. If you already have a UserID and Password (also known as PID and PAC) then skip directly to #2 below.  If you have ever applied to UCSD or if you have taken Summer Session classes at UCSD before, you already have a PID.  If you have forgotten your PID, please call the Summer Session office (858) 534-8277.)

When you create your UserID and Password, you will be sent an email with your UserID and will be asked to create a password.

DO NOT LOSE THIS PASSWORD. You will need it to make changes to classes, order transcripts and pay your bill on-line.
If you lose your password, you can reset it here.

2. Apply via the Summer Session online application. The application will automatically prompt when you enter your UserID and Password (PID and PAC).

3. If the classes that you choose either have prerequisites or are upper division, you will need to contact the department offering the course in order to obtain "preauthorization" to enroll in the course.  The following chart has the contact information and special instructions for the departments.

4. Enroll in courses via WebReg. You will not see charges for your courses appear on any statement until May 28, 2010.

5. Pay for enrolled course(s). The fee deadline is June 21 for Session I or Special Session, and July 26 for Session II. If you do not pay your fees in full by the fee deadlines, you will be dropped from your courses and your enrollment is cancelled. If you're a financial aid student*, you will not be dropped for nonpayment but if you forget to drop unwanted courses, you may receive a grade of "F" for non-attendance.

Session I and Special Session Fee Deadline: June 21
Session I last day to enroll using WebReg: July 2
Session II Fee Deadline: July 26
Session II last day to enroll using WebReg: August 6

When students are enrolled and paid in full they are considered "Registered" and the process is complete.

*UCSD only offers financial aid to UCSD students. Visiting UC students may be eligible for financial aid assistance from their home campus. Contact your home campus for instructions on how to apply.

First Week Course Changes
During the first week of classes (June 28 - July 2 or August 2 - August 6) students may simultaneously drop and add one course without late fees.

If the course being added has additional fees, such as a material fee or a higher course fee, the additional fees must be paid when adding the course.

Beginning July 3 for Session I and August 7 for Session II, the late enrollment period ends.  Once the enrollment period has ended, a student must petition to add a class.  Petitions are reviewed for approval or denial.  Do not assume that your petition will be approved.  For more information regarding the petition process, please visit the Summer Session FAQ page section on Petitions.  For your reference, the Academic Senate Regulations regarding petitions can be found here and a link to the petition form can be found here.

If you have additional questions about petitions, please contact Stasi Chase at the Summer Session Office.
