Text Box: Computational Electromagnetics Group is a part of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and also is affiliated with the Center for Magnetic Recording Research at the University of California, San Diego. The research interests of the group are in various aspects of the Electromagnetic Theory, Computational Electromagnetics, Electromagnetic Optics/Photonics, and Micromagnetics/Nanomagnetics.
We develop efficient computational techniques for calculating electromagnetic/optical/magnetic fields in complex configurations and use these techniques to study physical phenomena in photonic and magnetic nanostructures as well as in microwave applications. In Optics/Photonics, we are studying electromagnetic phenomena supported by photonic nanostructures including dielectric and plasmonic components residing in free space or coupled with structured and layered metal-dielectric surfaces. In Magnetics, we are studying magnetization dynamics mechanisms occurring in magnetic nanostructures including magnetization reversal and magnetic resonance phenomena in composite media.
The group collaborates with several experimental groups at the University of California, San Diego, other universities, and industry, to implement the theoretical ideas in practically fabricated devices and systems.
