New Singing Sensation Daphne Blunt has been flying onto playlists around the world in 2010. After only 3 weeks on Broadjam, Crush Rush broke into the Top Ten Pop Chart, moved to No. 3 a week later, then hit NUMBER 1 on Feb. 13, where it remained for ALMOST 1 MONTH. Some of Daphne’s international attention comes from her being recently named a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, which had over 15,000 entries. The ISC has a prestigious panel of judges that will be reviewing the finalists including Grammy winners Steve Winwood, Timbaland, Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20, Adele, and Jerry Lee Lewis. The judges also include industry executives including Rick Krim from VH1, Brian Malouf from Walt Disney Records, Douglas C. Cohn from Nickelodeon, and Amanda Ghost from Epic Records.
Daphne has reached new heights with her music by teaming up with one of LA’s top creative directors—Jonathan George. Jonathan was a co-writer of Crush Rush and Rock n Roll; he and Daphne are currently working on a third song together, which will be the theme song of the new TV tween sitcom “Beverly Hills Gonna Bees.”
Daphne Blunt hit Los Angeles by storm in the summer of 2008 quickly landing her first television appearance as Jayell on CBS’s Young and the Restless and the leading role of Kylee, the “First Daughter” in the TV Sitcom Pilot, “My Daddy is the President.” Her resume has continued to grow with credits including the Lifetime movie “Amish Grace,” Nickelodeon’s “Brain Surge,” Disney.com’s webisode “Solution Street,” and Nickelodeon’s “Big Time Rush.” Daphne plays the lead role in the indie film “The Things We Lose,” which will premier in the Spring of 2010. She has appeared in numerous national television commercials, including Disney Interactive and Kmart’s 2009 Back to School Series (Rockstare and Blingatude). Daphne has appeared regularly at the L.A. Comedy Connection doing improv and standup. She is studying with some of the best acting coaches in LA—including Cynthia Bain (Unfabulous), Wesley Pfenning (Wizards of Waverly Place), Dennis Lavalle, and Margie Haber.
Daphne has not only “picked up the pen” to write songs. She has written the script for a TV Pilot titled “Beverly Hills Gonna Bees,” which is currently in development. Daphne is working on future episodes and is working on the script for a second TV series. Her writing has a unique combination of youth and maturity. With a zany sense of humor, her writing makes you laugh over the silliest things, but her satiric comments show not only humor but insight.
Daphne has great attention to detail and a keen insight to human behavior and has decided that when she grows up she would like to be an FBI agent in the Behavioral Analysis Unit. But, a girl of eclectic tastes, if the BAU doesn’t work out, Daphne would like to work for Vogue Magazine in New York City! In her spare time Daphne likes to ride horses and jump competitively; she is also a Wii aficionado and an avid shopper, owning more purses and shoes than any 12 year old should! Known in part for her great style, Daphne is also currently working with her three older sisters in opening the next hit Los Angeles Boutique where they will showcase their own designs and more!
