Bibfilex is software to create and manage archives of bibliographical items (books, articles, etc.) according to Biblatex structure and rules. It is far less advanced than other bibliographic managers like JabRef, and allows only a few customizations. Its strength is speed and lightness, especially when used with many items. It uses SQLite as a database. It can store the items according to each of the entry types described in the Biblatex manual (book, article, etc.), import the content of a file in Biblatex format (like a JabRef database, a Mendeley BibTex exported file, or a Google Books BibTex downloaded file), export data to a Biblatex file (like a JabRef database), locate an item just typing its author name, title, etc. filter the items by selecting a keyword in a list, filter the items according to three different conditions (or to manually modify the SQL statement of the filter to make it more suitable or complex) or according to the \cite commands contained within a Latex document, associate various attachments (files of every kind) with each item, activate autocompletion of data in each field with “Ctrl + Space”, automatically create unique BibTex keys according to a pattern defined by the user, and specify the fields (columns) shown in the grid view of the data. It is also possible to replace the \cite and \printbibliography commands in a Latex document with extended citations and bibliography, which are composed according to a user-defined pattern, to export the Latex file in other formats more easily.
Release Notes: Bugs were fixed.
"lookat" (or "bekijk" in Dutch) is a program to view text files and manual pages. It is designed to be more user-friendly than more conventional text viewers such as less.

GNU parallel is a shell tool for executing jobs in parallel locally or using remote computers. A job is typically a single command or a small script that has to be run for each of the lines in the input. The typical input is a list of files, a list of hosts, a list of users, a list of URLs, or a list of tables. If you use xargs today you will find GNU parallel very easy to use, as GNU parallel is written to have the same options as xargs. If you write loops in shell, you will find GNU parallel may be able to replace most of the loops and make them run faster by running several jobs in parallel. If you use ppss or pexec you will find GNU parallel will often make the command easier to read. GNU parallel makes sure output from the commands is the same output as you would get had you run the commands sequentially. This makes it possible to use output from GNU parallel as input for other programs.
Release Notes: The software can now be installed in 10 seconds by running wget -O - pi.dk/3 | sh. CPU detection was added for HURD, IRIX, SCO OpenServer, and HPUX. --ctrlc will send SIGINT to tasks running on remote computers and thus kill them. --load now uses 'ps' to find the number of running processes instead of 'uptime' and is much faster. CentOS 3.9 and FreeBSD 7 compatibility bugs were fixed. Some of these required quite extensive changes, making this release beta quality. --retries now works with --onall. The new --load computation now works on FreeBSD 7. --nice works under tcsh.

Pcompress is a utility to do compression/decompression and deduplication in parallel by splitting input data into chunks. It has a modular structure and includes support for multiple algorithms like LZMA, Bzip2, PPMD, LZ4, etc., with KECCAK/BLAKE2/SHA-256/512 chunk checksums. SSE optimizations for the bundled LZMA are included. It also implements chunk-level Content-Aware Deduplication and Delta Compression features based on a Rabin Fingerprinting scheme. It has low metadata overhead and overlaps I/O and compression to achieve maximum parallelism. It has AES encryption capability and uses Scrypt from Tarsnap to generate per-session unique keys from passwords. It can work in pipe mode, reading from stdin and writing to stdout. It also provides some adaptive compression modes in which a suitable algorithm is chosen per chunk based on heuristics.
Release Notes: This release introduces the capability to do Global Deduplication. This performs deduplication across the entire dataset using an in-memory index as opposed to deduplication only within segments. Two kinds of indexes are used based on the dataset size. A full chunk hash index is used for small datasets. A special segmented similarity based index is used when the dataset is very large. The latter index size is just 0.002% of the dataset size with >90% efficiency of a full chunk index based exact dedupe using 4KB chunks. Streaming support allows optimization of network transfer of large data.
