The best motivators are,
- build for a good cause
- companies/sponsors donโt own the idea. You do
- You earn prizes that are useful or monetary
- You get to pitch this idea or get funding for it!

I think hackathons are the best way to build something cool, meet new folks and learn team building, as there is usually intense time pressure!
