It's too late now, but I recently needed to send the URL of a file, and after a serious search for the file in VScode, I found it in a few minutes and had to change it to the GitHub URL to pass it along.
Conclusion
You can do it with GitLens commands.
GitLens: Open File on Remote
GitLens: Copy Remote File Url
If a range is selected before executing the command, the URL will have that line selected. Convenient.
Reflection
Don't just misrepresent what you think is an inconvenience with a handful of moves and leave it at that.
