{"id":20829,"date":"2020-07-09T13:41:10","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T18:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/physicians.wustl.edu\/?page_id=20829"},"modified":"2024-03-26T16:02:15","modified_gmt":"2024-03-26T21:02:15","slug":"virtual-visit-tips","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/physicians.wustl.edu\/for-patients\/virtual-visits\/virtual-visit-tips\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Visit Tips"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow these steps to ensure your virtual visit is just as successful as an in-office appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Have your health information available, including:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your current symptoms, when they started and how severe they are.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any chronic conditions you have.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medicines you are currently taking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data from any app or device like a blood pressure cuff or peak flow meter you may use to track your health.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Questions you have for your doctor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact information for your preferred pharmacy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare your space and device.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find a quiet, private space for your appointment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be sure your phone, tablet or computer is charged or plugged in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure you have good lighting and that your camera is set at eye level (if you\u2019ve blocked your camera for privacy reasons, you will need to unblock it).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you receive a phone call from an unknown number close to your visit time, please answer. It could be your physician.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Communicate clearly with your provider during your visit.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have paper and pen ready to take notes of the doctor\u2019s recommendations during the visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talk and share with your doctor just as you would during an in-person visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give the visit your full attention. Avoid side conversations, phone calls or checking email while the provider is connected. Treat the visit as you would an in-person appointment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Answer the doctor\u2019s questions as clearly and to the point as possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask questions if something is unclear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Know what to expect.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You may experience some lag time during the visit, depending on your internet connection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your provider may need to glance away from the screen to take notes or look something up in your chart.
