It then stores the settings for the administrator elevated user. But using the standard user when using it, it can't read the settings it wrote using the administrator. Running diff-ext-setup as administrator shows the right settings. But running it as standard user, it seems not to save the settings, so the settings are empty when running the setup again.

So I guess it is not possible to use diff-ext using Windows 10 and Windows 11 until someone repairs it.

Impossible to compare: empty compare command

When using diff-ext v1.9.2 on Windows 10, it does not keep the value in compare command (giving a valid program file path name - Meld).
So when I run a compare, I get a first dialog box stating "Operation successful", and then and Error message "Cloud not start diff command. Please run diff_ext setup programm and verify your configuration.

Crash with recent Thunar

Dear Sergey,

I found your xdiff-ext program, and with a few changes I managed to
compile it on Arch, but unfortunately it crashes Thunar, I guess it
would need some update to work with the current Thunar.
I wrote my notes about this at:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21661

Would you be so kind as to update the source, so that it would compile
(without my changes) on recent systems and would work with recent
Thunar?

Regards,
We need a patch for diff-ext in nautilus 3 (GTK3)

Crash with nautilus and diff-ext

[ Forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/431692 ]

Hi,

Some Debian users have reported that diff-ext makes Nautilus crash in version 0.2.1.

There's a backtrace of the crash available here,
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=431692#19

And a report that the GConf key /apps/diff-ext/icons not being set to "default" might cause the crash, here,
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=431692#24

Problem with context menu and multi selection

When diff-ext.dll is registered on my system, there is a problem with the explorer context menu. I can reproduce it as follows:

Select to .bat files, right click and select "Edit". Nothing happens.

Then unregister diff-ext.dll, select to .bat files, right click and select "Edit". Two instances of Notepad will be started with the two batch files.

I noticed, whenever I select multiple elements, right click actions do not work as expected. Selecting just a single bat file and then right-click and edit will open Notepad.

The problem occurs with diff-ext 1.8.3 and older versions. I tried down to 1.6.x
I am using XP2 Pro US.

Could not run under win2k

It reports that "This is an invalid win32 program." when v1.8.3 runs in win2k.

Unfortunately, icons seem to get resized to 16x16 by diff-ext, which both distorts the image and makes the menu item text overlap the icon (as it it too large). If I remeber correctly, a trick to avoid this is to use BMP files instead of ICO files for the menu icons.

1.8.0: No files passed to compare program

No matter if I compare immediately or choose the "Compare later" approach, no files seem to be passed to the compare program. To verify, I wrote a simple batch file which prints out its arguments as a compare program, and it prints out nothing. The program itself seems to be called correctly, however.
