Ohio is refocusing its high school credential system to make sure the credentials students earn lead to jobs, cutting its approved list of credentials that qualify students to graduate from 164 to 70. ExcelinEd's Adriana Gobbo Harrington notes that including credentials as a path to a diploma can be a slippery slope toward too many low-value options, and points to Ohio's move as a sign of the pendulum shifting back toward quality.
