October 15 is recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. In the U.S., it's estimated that 1 in every 4 pregnancies ends in a loss. As common as it is, it’s often not talked about openly, and many families experience feelings of sadness, guilt, loneliness and even depression. We are here to help. Our Women & Children's Bereavement & Family Support Services enhance communication between staff involved in caring for parents and baby, bridge the gap between the outpatient and inpatient settings, and provide integrative emotional and spiritual care across the prenatal, postpartum and NICU continuum. These services also include grief counseling and support. You are not alone, and have support throughout your journey. To learn more about these services offered, visit https://lnkd.in/eK8CYQpq.

Congratulations to David Mejia, a recent recipient of the NGHS Laurel Award, which celebrates non-clinical employees who go above and beyond in service to their colleagues, patients, families and the organization. David is known for being a trusted partner, a problem-solver and someone who is always willing to lend a hand when help is needed. Most recently, he stepped outside his day-to-day responsibilities to support our Payroll team during a complex review process, bringing both expertise and a spirit of collaboration to the effort. David helped review data, verify calculations and ensure payroll information was accurate. He worked with urgency across teams, asked thoughtful questions and stayed focused on ensuring the best outcome for our employees. David's willingness to go above and beyond reflects the best of NGHS. His commitment to excellence, collaboration, service and accountability strengthens our organization and the teams he supports every day. Thank you, David, for the care, dedication and behind-the-scenes work that make a difference for so many. We're proud to celebrate you as a Laurel Award recipient. 💚

NGHS recently hosted the region's first Nursing Academic-Practice Partnership (NAPP) Summit, bringing together leaders from more than 15 nursing schools across Georgia to strengthen and expand the future nursing workforce. Guided by a newly released playbook from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), participants explored proven strategies for building stronger partnerships between nursing education and healthcare practice. Through collaboration, shared learning and data-informed discussions, attendees identified new opportunities to support nursing students and prepare the next generation of caregivers. By connecting education and healthcare leaders, we're helping create stronger pathways into the nursing profession and ensuring our communities have access to exceptional care for years to come.
