The OpenID Foundation has refreshed the interface for its conformance suite - the open-source tooling implementers use to validate OpenID Connect, FAPI, CIBA, OpenID for Identity Assurance, Authorization API, Shared Signals and OpenID for Verifiable Credentials implementations. The most visible change is a new Guided mode. Users pick their ecosystem and the role their implementation plays, and the suite then identifies the test plans they need and describes them in plain language. The OpenID Foundation is a non-profit international standardization organization of individuals and companies committed to enabling, promoting and protecting OpenID technologies that provide the internet identity layer and API Protection. Formed in June 2007, the Foundation serves as a public trust organization representing the open community of developers, vendors, and users. OIDF assists the community by providing needed infrastructure and help in promoting and supporting expanded adoption of OpenID. This entails managing intellectual property and brand marks as well as fostering viral growth and global participation in the proliferation of OpenID.

CISA and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have published new guidance on protecting tokens and assertions. It is essential reading for anyone defending identity infrastructure. We were glad to contribute through the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative alongside CISA, NIST, and industry partners. And, we are pleased to see that it recommends two OpenID Foundation specifications: the Shared Signals Framework and the Continuous Access Evaluation Profile. The specifications recommended in the report are open, the test tools are free, and implementers can start today. If you’ve ever accessed files on a website without having to reauthenticate every time, thank a token. These are digital snippets of information that verify your identity and grant access to important files on the cloud and business applications. However, tokens are vulnerable to theft, forgery and misuse; unauthorized individuals can use them to gain access to your data. Tokens contain cryptographically protected information about a user and are a key part of the access management infrastructure at most major cloud service providers (CSPs). They enable conveniences like single sign-on, allowing you to use multiple applications without constantly reauthenticating. Now, NIST and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency have issued new guidelines on how to protect tokens. While primarily intended to help federal agencies configure services from their cloud service providers, any organization can use these guidelines to protect their systems. https://lnkd.in/eSPSb-hc
