If you’re interested in helping to make our organization a great place to work and receive care, check out the Northwell BERGs. BERGS – Business Employee Resource Groups – are made up of team members who support Northwell’s mission of diversity, inclusion, and health equity inside and outside our organization.

Members of BERGS contribute to initiatives that directly impact our communities and each other, network with team members across our organization, enjoy opportunities for professional development and mentoring, and share their voices as a representative for and a resource to their colleagues.

The BERGS consist of:

Bridges:

Members are passionate about cultural diversity and embrace relationship building through understanding and supporting the cultural, spiritual and ethical values of the communities we serve. Teams are focused on Asian, Black/African American, Jewish and Latinx communities.

Caregiver

Members show compassion to colleagues who are caregivers and provide support through sharing available resources and developing a workplace culture that helps ease the responsibilities of caregiving.

Expressions

Members consist of individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ or are allies of the LGBTQIA+ community or are passionate about promoting unity and health equity. They promote awareness and inclusion in the workplace and connect the community with services based on their unique healthcare needs.

GreenBERG

Members are focused on the environmental impact of Northwell’s operations. They leverage sustainable and socially responsive initiatives in the workplace and in our communities, with a focus on recycling, transportation and energy efficiency.

N-Able

Members are committed to connecting individuals with disabilities to the right healthcare resources and services. Members also serve as educators for employees, hiring leaders, healthcare professionals and the community at large around issues of acceptance and inclusion.

Valor

Veterans and Allies: Liaisons of Reintegration (VALOR) members are dedicated to serving our military personnel, veterans and their family members. Teams work with service members to connect

them with resources.

Women in Healthcare

Members connect and inspire women by providing opportunities for advocacy, community service and development. All team members who are committed to advancing diversity, inclusion and health equity are encouraged to join this BERG.
