Two new general surgeons – Mohamad H. Abouzeid, MD and Ann M. Defnet, MD – have joined Harbor View Medical Services.
Dr. Abouzeid comes to Port Jefferson from the NYU School of Medicine in New York, where he practiced general and acute care surgery. He also was an assistant professor of surgery at the School of Medicine and previously had completed his general surgery internship and residency there.
Prior to that he was with the Steward Medical Group, Boston, MA, and an assistant professor of surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and is board certified in general surgery.
Dr. Defnet received her medical degree from Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University, Maywood, IL and completed her internship at New York University Langone Health. She completed fellowships in minimally invasive and advanced gastrointestinal surgery at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA, and in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation at The University of Chicago Medicine, Comer Children’s Hospital, Division of Pediatric Surgery. She is board certified in general surgery.
