Joseph Ng, MD, has been promoted to Associate Medical Director at Mather Hospital. In his new role Dr. Ng will assist Senior VP/CMO Joan Faro, MD, in managing medical staff issues and will be directly involved in the quality management activities of the medical staff.

Dr. Ng joined Mather Hospital as an intensivist in 2009 and was named Chief Medical Information Officer in 2010. He became Program Director for Mather’s new Transitional Year residency program in 2014 and was named Assistant Vice President for Medical Affairs in 2019.

Dr. Ng is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Informatics. He received his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico where he grew up. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College/Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island where he was chief resident and a Critical Care fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York with a focus on surgery and transplant medicine, where he was also chief fellow.

Dr. Ng was a member of the team that won Mather Hospital’s Capstone Award for Innovation in 2013 for implementing the Hospital’s new electronic health record system and was named Physician Champion of the Year in 2014 by Mather staff. He has taught at the Stony Brook School of Medicine and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Dr. Ng has participated in many medical missions and serves as vice president for the non-profit group Sights on Health, which provides quality, compassionate care for those who have a geographical and/or social status that limits their access to medical care.
