Brandy Feliu, RN, Assistant Vice President for Nursing Professional Development, was selected to participate in a two-week study tour with Epworth HealthCare in Melbourne, Australia. She is the only RN representing Northwell. Joining her will be five physicians and one senior administrative director. All seven participants traveling to Australia are members of Northwell’s High Potential Leadership Development Program.
Brandy will be working closely with the Nursing Department at Epworth HealthCare to learn about items such as delivery of care methodology, challenges with staffing and nursing ratios, educational preparation and requirements of Australian nurses. She will share her experiences after she returns with Mather and Northwell leadership.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity,” Brandy said. “I am going to learn about their education and nursing departments, study their infrastructure and how nursing care is delivered on a different continent.”
Epworth HealthCare is a provider of acute medical, surgical and rehabilitation services based in Melbourne, Australia and has an affiliation with Northwell Health.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the trip has been postponed indefinitely.
