Lightweight Dock `Plank` 0.11.0 Released With Docklets Support, More

Plank, the simple, lightweight dock written in Vala, which is used by default in elementary OS, reached version 0.11.0.


The latest Plank 0.11.0 adds docklets support (the first four icons from the dock in the screenshot above are docklets: show desktop, clipboard manager, clock and trash), migration to GSettings for dock settings and more.

elementary OS Freya Beta 2 available For Download [Screenshots]

Six months after the first beta, elementary OS Freya beta 2 was released yesterday. Based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (which is supported until April 2019), Freya beta 2 comes with various UI improvements, UEFI/SecureBoot support along with other interesting changes as well as almost 600 bug fixes.

Synapse Indicator is a new, unofficial search indicator created for elementary OS. The application should also work under Unity, the Ubuntu GNOME fallback session or in Cairo Dock.

Like the name suggests, this is a front-end for Synapse, a semantic launcher used to start applications and find relevant files using Zeitgeist, extensible through plugins. It's a great, lightweight alternative to the once very popular GNOME Do or, more or less, to Unity's Dash.
