GitLab Relay (KAS) is a component installed with GitLab. It serves as a central communication relay for bidirectional gRPC communication between GitLab and external systems, including:
- Runners: Required to use the Job Router and Runner Controllers.
- Kubernetes clusters: Required to use the Agent for Kubernetes.
