The following terms (“Terms”) govern the sale of digital and print subscriptions offered by Harvard Business Review (“HBR,” “us,” or “we,” or “our”). By subscribing, you agree to these Terms, and the HBR Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the HBR Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, the applicable provision(s) of these Terms shall govern. If you are a subscriber located outside of the United States, please refer to the Additional Terms for Certain Jurisdictions Outside of the United States section below for additional rights and information that may apply to you.
Payment & Subscriptions
- Subscription Types. You are not required to make any purchase to access our digital products, however, your access will be limited without a subscription. We offer three different types of subscriptions, detailed below. Subscriptions may be purchased (i) for yourself, (ii) as a gift to someone else, or (iii) as a group subscription for yourself and additional readers, up to a prescribed limit. All subscriptions can be purchased on an automatically renewing or in certain circumstances on a one-time basis. - Digital: Digital subscriptions provide you with unlimited access to core content on hbr.org and our iOS and Android apps.
- Print & Digital: Print & Digital subscriptions give you all the benefits of a Digital subscription as well as no more than six (6) print issues of the magazine annually.
- Premium: Premium subscriptions provide all of the benefits of Print & Digital subscriptions, as well as a selection of digital assets not available in other tiers. For more information on our premium subscription offerings go to our Subscriptions page.
- Executive: Executive subscriptions for C-suite leaders include all the benefits of the core subscription types, as well as live connection experiences expert sessions, and timely insights. Visit hbr.org/executive-subscription for more information.
- Subscription Billing Terms
- One-Time Purchases: When you purchase a one-time, non-renewing subscription, we will charge your selected method of payment at the time of purchase. You will be charged the price displayed to you on the checkout page plus any taxes that may apply.
- Automatically Renewing Subscriptions: Automatically renewing subscriptions involve recurring charges at regular intervals (first, when you initially subscribe and then annually or monthly depending on the option you chose at checkout). By selecting an automatically renewing subscription, you authorize us to charge the payment method you provide the subscription fee in effect at the time of your renewal, plus any additional taxes that may apply. You will continue to be charged at your selected interval unless, prior to your renewal date, you (i) opt out of automatic renewal by visiting your Account page or by contacting our Customer Care team; or (ii) cancel your subscription. - Group/Shared Subscriptions: When purchasing a shared or group subscription we will charge your selected method of payment at the time of purchase and we assume, that the purchaser has the requisite consent to share personal information of others with HBP, where applicable. You (the purchaser of a group subscription, may cancel the group subscription at any time by contacting our Customer Care team. Please refer to the Cancellation and Refunds section below for more information.
- Third-Party Subscriptions: Subscriptions purchased through a third party (e.g. Google Play or Apple App) are solely managed through that third party. These subscriptions are subject to the billing, cancellation, and refund terms of the third party. We are not able to initiate, amend, cancel, or refund any third-party subscription on the customer’s behalf.
- Payment Methods. We accept all major credit cards, and any other payment method made available on our Subscriptions page (e.g. Paypal). Available payment methods may vary by location.
- Price Changes. We reserve the right to change our subscription prices at any time. If you have an active subscription on the effective date of a price change, you will not be charged any additional fees for your current subscription term. You will be charged the price currently in effect for any subsequent purchases. We will provide the current prices before you make your purchase on our checkout page and, if you have an automatically renewing subscription, in advance of your renewal date.
- Unpaid Fees. If we are unable to process your payment or payment is otherwise not tendered in a timely manner, we reserve the right to suspend, cancel, or otherwise restrict your subscription at our discretion. If you need to update your payment method, please visit your Account page or contact our Customer Care team.
- Promotions and Trials. From time to time, we may offer trial subscriptions. If you select a product with a trial subscription, you will be able to access the applicable products during your trial period for no charge or an introductory rate. Once your trial period has ended, your access to the product will automatically continue and you will be charged the price stated in your original offer. You may cancel your trial at any time during the trial period to avoid the stated post-trial regular price. Any cancellations made during the trial period will terminate your access to your subscription with immediate effect. There is a limit of one introductory trial offer per person.

Cancellation and Refunds
- Cancellation by you: You may cancel your subscription at any time by visiting your Account page or by contacting our Customer Care team. To cancel a gift/group subscription, you, (the purchaser) may contact Customer Care. In order to avoid charges for a subsequent subscription term, all cancellations must be made before the end of the current term.
If you purchased your subscription via a third party (e.g. the Google Play Store or Apple App Store), you must cancel through that third party. We do not have the ability to cancel a third-party subscription on a customer’s behalf. - Refunds: EXCEPT WHERE OTHERWISE NOTED OR REQUIRED BY LAW ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Cancellation does not entitle you to any refund or credit for the time remaining in your subscription term, except where required by law. We reserve the right to issue refunds or credits at our sole discretion. Issuance of a refund or credit in one instance creates no obligation to issue a refund or credit in another circumstance.
- Effect of cancellation: If you cancel your subscription and receive a refund, your access will be terminated immediately. If you cancel without a refund, you will retain access to your subscription (and, where applicable, receive all purchased print products) through the end of your then-current paid term.
- Cancellation by us: We reserve the right to suspend, cancel, or otherwise restrict access to your subscription at any time due to (i) payment failure, or (ii) if you violate these Terms or the HBR Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
- Cancellation by you: You may cancel your subscription at any time by visiting your Account page or by contacting our Customer Care team. To cancel a gift/group subscription, you, (the purchaser) may contact Customer Care. In order to avoid charges for a subsequent subscription term, all cancellations must be made before the end of the current term.
- Your Obligations. By subscribing, you agree (i) to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information about yourself as prompted by the subscription form, and (ii) to maintain and properly update your account information to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete, and (iii) that your subscription is solely for your individual, personal use (unless purchased under a group subscription) and not for commercial purposes or in connection with a business. If you provide information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current, or incomplete, or if we have reasonable grounds to suspect that you have, or you violate these Terms, as determined in our sole discretion, we have the right to suspend or terminate your subscription or refuse any and all current or future use of the subscription services.
- Changes to Terms. We reserve the right to change the terms of any of our products, including the price. If a material change is made during the course of your active subscription, the change will apply to you upon renewal of your subscription or to any purchase made on or after the date of the change.

Additional Terms for Certain Jurisdictions Outside of the United States
- Place of Contract. For all subscriptions, the place where services will be performed is the address provided during the purchase process.
- Customers Residing in the European Union and United Kingdom. If you are a resident of the European Union or United Kingdom you have the right to withdraw from your subscription within fourteen (14) days of the day you purchased your digital subscription.
- Customers Residing in Québec. If you are a resident of Quebec, you have the right to obtain a prorated refund if you cancel your subscription in the middle of a subscription term. However, your cancellation may be subject to a cancellation fee of up to 10% of your refund amount (not to exceed CAD $50).
- Customers Residing in India. If you are a resident of India, you may purchase a one or three-year subscription term. Your subscription will not auto-renew, nor can it be cancelled mid-term.
