I did an update to Ubuntu 13.10 and discovered simple scan no longer worked. I guessed that one of my drivers was bad so I went into synaptic and ereased anything connected to HP. Then with your software I found my M1212nf MFP, downloaded the software and ran it. It took a fair while to go through its thing, but in the end everything worked. You guys did an excellent job. Thanks,

It works with Debian 12 but not Debian 13. Considering how old Debian 12 packages are, HP could do a better job here. I can use the printer and the scanner without this software but there are some functions that don't work like cleaning and checking ink levels. I can use the web interface of the printer but it would be nice to have it on Linux.

FEDORA 40 am instalat HPLIP din soft APPLICATION si functioneaza

Woks well with my HP F4180 on Linux Mint 22.2. I also get ink levels indicated, yay!

For the people out there saying that this does not work on Debian, I have it installed and working directly through the apt package manager on Debian 13 (current testing branch). The dependency-fetching part of this install script is broken, but the one maintained in the official repository should go fine. Simply: sudo apt install hplip hplip-data hplip-doc hplip-gui

Install executable doesn't work on Debian 12.

I like the idea, but interface but not working on Debian, I quite assume that it doesn't work on Ubuntu either. It has rhel dependencies listed so it won't find them apt-based packages. Please update the description on the HP site that it should be installed with: sudo apt install hplip hplip-data hplip-doc hplip-gui libsane-hpaio Or at least that's what worked for me on Debian 12.

100 x easier than on Windows. I wish the HP people stop doing things to let a simple printer installation a hard process. My printer has WiFi support, I own it for about 4 years. One time, ONE single time, I was able to print over WiFi. Is ridiculous all the procedure you have to make to configure it. Thanks for that simple installation. Although I had some error about a Qt4 GUI and DBus support, but if I got it right is for the HP-systray on desktop and I don“t mind at all about that. Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for making a simple printer installation so simple.
