Thanks for Seb, it's wonderful!

I literally finished my exam and it doesn't let me quit the session even if I put the password. Some error keeps happening and it doesn't even let me reload the page or fix the problem. I'm supposed to just stare at the same screen for however long the error persists for? I wish I could smash my device to see if it lets me quit then, but it'll probably remained locked anyways.

------------------------------ ## 2.

Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is, perhaps, one of the most intrusive pieces of software ever shoved into students' PCs. Not only does it have the feeling of being intrusive; it acts as such a virus which takes control of your PC thinking that it belongs to the software. Upon launch, SEB starts hijacking hotkeys, short-cuts, fullscreen mode, and basic Windows features. What makes the experience even worse is how SEB tries to treat your personal computer as its enemy. It does not act like an app but more like an invasive malware that locks down your PC in an aggressive way. What is frightening about SEB is how much it behaves like a real piece of malicious software: aggressively, destructively and totally regardless of user control or consent. It seems that the motto of SEB is "nothing to trust, everything to break". SEB doesn't care whether it ruins your productivity or violates your accessibility settings. SEB doesn't care what shortcuts you use and that your device is your property. It is amazing that any educational institution thinks it is acceptable for students to have to install such software. The configuration system is a joke as well. Everything is password protected, which allows the SEB to be in full kiosk mode and prevents any sort of control over the exam software from the userβs side. Maybe it would not matter on a school-owned device, but on a private computer, this is totally unacceptable. No examination software must be able to disable the system-level input or interfere with the computer at all except during the exam time. What about performance? Exactly as bad as one would expect from such a program. It is slow, clumsy, outdated, and freezes often. Its user interface feels like being created in 2008 and has not been updated since. The bottom line is Safe Exam Browser is an extremely bloated, invasive piece of software that brute-forces its way to solving exam security and creates collateral damage on every step along the way. Not only is it terrible software β itβs software that actively disrespects the user and their computer. Verdict: SEB seems like a virus, behaves like a virus, and feels like a virus. The only thing missing is you having to install it.

The app is unbelievably laggy, it made my laptop completely unusable. Despite the school saying it'll only lock me out during tests, which there ISN'T ANY, it still locked me out and it won't even let me CLOSE my device. my apps, shortcuts, and even my KEYBOARD is locked, I can't even long press the power button to at least let my laptop rest until it unlocks again. Why do I need a password to get out?? I keep hearing that this app is a complete virus, I'm starting to see why. Schools, don't force this program onto the kids.

It's extremely bad. It locks me out of my laptop. I cannot press windows key incase of an emergency of having to restart/shut down my laptop, it literally doesn't allow me to use shortcuts to shut it down aswell when my power button isn't working. It is BAD. You can't right click on things incase of when an image won't load. How am I supposed to answer the exam like this?

My laptop became 10x laggier after installing this VIRUS Impossible to close, my teacher tried to, didn't work Battery is drowning like crazy GUI is HORRENDOUS for 2026's standards, old looking Overall just a hideous browser. Will probably try to find a bypass soon

This browser is just useless, can be patched too easly. Sometimes it freezes the system, and let's not talk about the fact that if the computer is installing a graphics driver in the background and the screen refreshes, you get the red screen asking for a password. I almost couldn't continue the test because of this. If a students wants to cheat, let them. They will face the consequencies themselves. Talking about the UI, it's pretty bad considering the standards of 2025, it should be more modern. Also SEB isn't so easy to set up and configure with moodle, sometimes teachers screw up and we get locked. Easy to use for students, a pain to set up. We can add even the cherry on top, they claim it's open source but they still include a closed source module (seb.dll) which is for the Browser Exam Key algorithm. The project is released with MPL license so they should release the source code for that module as well. Stay away from this.

Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a free, open-source web browser designed to create a secure environment for online exams by restricting access to unauthorized resources, disabling system shortcuts, and allowing only pre-approved websites or applications. It's highly customizable and integrates well with platforms like Moodle, making it a popular choice for educational institutions aiming to maintain academic integrity. However, SEB can be challenging for first-time users due to its somewhat clunky interface and pre-exam setup requirements. Itβs also limited by occasional technical glitches and a lack of mobile support, which can hinder flexibility in certain testing environments. Overall, SEB is a solid tool for secure assessments, especially in controlled academic settings, but could benefit from usability improvements and broader compatibility.

It is a generally good program. But if you have a custom pointer from your mouse, Safe Exam Browser might not work, it was a bad experience finding this out.
