Almost four years ago I met Erin Mote from InnovateEDU at a co-working spot in Brooklyn and shared the idea of starting a National AI Literacy Day. Our founding steering committee turned that idea into reality within months, and it's grown every year since. AI Literacy is more important than ever. Students and educators are using AI daily, often without the guidance to do so safely, ethically, or effectively. It's something we've been championing at AI for Education from the start. We've been honored to work alongside teachers and leaders navigating the complexities of GenAI adoption on the ground daily. While our work is ongoing, March 5, 2027, marks a powerful nationwide day of action. Join us for the fourth National AI Literacy Day when we'll dig into fundamental questions like "How do we prepare learners for an AI-enabled world?" through events, curriculum, and professional development you can carry forward all year. Great to see this continuing to grow. One habit I’d like students to develop is being able to explain where AI entered their work and why they accepted or rejected what it gave them. That tells us much more than simply asking whether AI was used.
