Amazon has been helping with disaster relief since 2017, using our logistics expertise and assets – planes, trucks, delivery vans – to bring much needed supplies to communities hit by wildfires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and so on. The team has been working to expand those capabilities to bring technology to communities because we’ve learned that just as much as water and diapers, communities need power and connectivity. We've built a handful of solutions that we can now bring in when disaster strikes so that our communities can communicate with family and loved ones, insurance companies, employers, relief services, etc. With the technology built, we wanted to test it out—to see how any Amazon employee (in this case, yours truly) could lend a hand – with the help of other first responders in the area – to get power and connectivity up for our communities. Big thank you to our Disaster Relief team and all the local and national groups we worked with – I learned a ton and met some great people.

When we heard about a young fan in Michigan who loves watching Amazon deliveries roll through his neighborhood, we knew we wanted to do something special. We teamed up with Amazon Delivery Service Partner, Taylor Bahri, and her company Dreams Logistics LLC, a local business that delivers packages to Amazon customers, to surprise Lincoln with an experience he won't soon forget. 📷: Amazon in Action

Last week, Amazon was proud to serve as the title sponsor of the Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic (APKC) for the second consecutive year. A tradition for over 20 years, the APKC serves as the official kickoff to high school football in Michigan and, over the last several years, has become an important showcase for girls' flag football. This year's APKC was a full circle moment — reuniting me with the Detroit Sports Commission and bringing me back to where my relationship with Amazon first started. This event is a great example of how Amazon shows up, not simply as a sponsor, but as a partner working alongside organizations already making an impact in the community. Grateful to the DSC team and my colleagues at Amazon — shoutout Ian Conyers — who made this year's event possible. Here's to year three! 🏈

Happy first week of classes at Arlington Community High School (ACHS)! Last week, we officially welcomed teachers into the building here at HQ2 alongside Arlington Public Schools. From day one, our goal has been for HQ2 to meet the needs of Arlington — and ACHS is one of the most meaningful ways we're doing that. ACHS is a remarkable place that provides classes from 8am - 9pm so students can earn a high school diploma while working and managing family responsibilities. A public high school inside a corporate campus is pretty unique. 8,500 Amazonians work next door, and our neighbors are now students earning high school diplomas and dual-enrollment college credits. As ACHS graduate (and current Amazon security specialist) Makayla Campbell said at the ribbon-cutting: "I knew I needed the right environment, and ACHS gave me that opportunity." Congratulations to Principal Jeannette E. Allen, Ed.D, Superintendent Dr. Francisco Durán, Arlington Public Schools, the Arlington County Board, and everyone at Amazon who helped make this happen! And a special thanks to Holly S. for championing this every step of the way since the beginning. After years of temporary spaces, ACHS finally has a place to call home. Thanks to everyone helping to celebrate - Andrea Fava, Brian Stout, Jena Gross, Julia Satin, Brian Kenner, Monique Bryant, Mark Schwartz, Maureen Coffey, Matt de Ferranti, Bethany Zecher Sutton, Zuraya Tapia-Hadley, Shannon Flanagan-Watson, Susan Cunningham, Katie Cristol, David Barrera, Delegate Adele McClure, barbara favola, Clark Construction Group, Kate Bates, Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Arlington County Government, Abebe Kebede, Lindsay Winter Brian Stout
