  • When Joseph Tepuni-Fromont left school at 15, he carried more than a disrupted education. He carried the feeling that he wasn't smart enough. Years later, that experience still shapes his work. He founded Everything Suarve Inc, where he's helping young people rewrite their own stories, while using technology to free up more time for the support and guidance that can change a life. This #WorldMentalHealthDay, hear how Joseph turned his own experience into a mission to help others build confidence in themselves and their future. Watch the video below and learn more about Esuarve's work with Microsoft here: https://lnkd.in/eTRaB_-G

  • In the latest episode of the AI-Ready Executive series, Alan Murray, Chief Data and Technology Officer at Teach For America, explains why organizations should focus on the problem they're trying to solve before thinking about the technology itself. Alan argues that AI adoption shouldn't be treated as the finish line. The real measure of success is whether it's creating meaningful value for the organization and the people it serves. He shares how Teach For America is helping teachers use AI in practical ways, like making learning materials more accessible for bilingual students and creating new classroom experiences that encourage critical thinking. The conversation explores what's required to scale AI responsibly, including balancing innovation with governance through what Alan describes as a "walled garden" approach. 🎥 Watch the full interview: https://lnkd.in/e7wW-_cf

  • A data breach stops being an IT problem the moment it happens. This #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth, Priyo Lahiri, Microsoft's Director of AI Safety & Cybersecurity, explores why the assumptions underneath most cyber programs are the wrong ones for the IGOs, IFIs, and humanitarian organizations. Most programs assume detection has days to work and response has hours to plan. That's not the environment these organizations are operating in. Drawing on nearly a decade advising organizations through serious incidents, he explains why protecting this data is a duty of care, not just an IT task, and why the usual security playbooks weren't built for it. Read the first piece in this four part series and come back next week for more.

  • Loneliness is one of the most significant challenges facing older people today, yet it's often the hardest thing to measure. In this article, Anita S., Microsoft Elevate Australia & New Zealand Commercial Operating Unit Lead, explores how Catholic Healthcare is using data, technology, and AI to reduce fragmentation and support more connected, responsive care. As Anita writes, "You can meet every standard, deliver every service, and still have someone feel disconnected." It's a thoughtful reflection on why addressing loneliness sits at the heart of helping older people thrive, and how reducing administrative burden can give staff more time to notice, listen, and respond to the people in their care.

Aged care is, at its heart, about human connection. For me, that’s personal. My grandmother is 101, and through her I’ve seen just how important it is for older people to feel safe, respected, valued and connected. Tomorrow, I’m looking forward to taking that conversation further as part of our Signature Series | Reimagining Care Delivery Through Data, Technology and Human Connection. I’ll be joined by Josh McFarlane, CEO of Catholic Healthcare and his team to explore the future of care and how we can harness data and technology while ensuring the human experience remains at the heart of transformation. I’m really looking forward to hearing their perspectives and exploring what this means for the future of the sector. 👉Click through Register via the blog to join us, we can't wait to see you there! • NAZARETH CARE CHARITABLE TRUST has always been focused on delivering great care. The challenge was getting the right information to the right people quickly enough to act. That's why the organization worked with Evolution Business Systems to modernize its finance operations using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. • #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons is a reminder that quality care starts with people. At Uniting NSW.ACT, a generative AI tool called Buddy is helping frontline employees spend less time on administrative tasks and more time supporting the people who rely on their care. Tasks that once took 10 to 15 minutes can now take just one or two. Across thousands of workers, that adds up to more time for meaningful interactions and greater focus on delivering high-quality aged care and community services. As organizations serving older people look to the future, AI has the potential to help employees spend less time navigating processes and more time delivering the support their communities rely on. 🎥 Watch the video below to hear how Uniting NSW.ACT is using AI to strengthen care delivery and support its workforce and learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dpMbqmZk

  • In a crisis, getting the right information to the right people at the right time can save lives. Long before international responders arrive, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (United Nations OCHA)'s Virtual On-Site Operations Coordination Centre (VOSOCC) helps humanitarian teams share rapidly changing information, understand needs on the ground and coordinate across borders. During the critical first 72 hours of a response, it brings together response teams, government requests and a shared picture of evolving needs. To strengthen this service, OCHA partnered with Microsoft to bring together humanitarian responders, emergency management experts, designers and technologists to explore how VOSOCC could better support coordination when crises unfold. Using AI-assisted development and real-world data, the team rapidly tested ideas and transformed expert insights into a working prototype in just six days, a process that would traditionally have taken months. People affected by disaster may never see VOSOCC. But they can feel what better coordination makes possible: the right teams, the right information, moving sooner, together.

  • Language should never be a barrier to opportunity. Today, an estimated 3.4 billion people speak languages that remain underrepresented in AI. Through the Microsoft AI for Good Lab's LINGUA initiative, researchers, organizations and communities are working together to expand language representation in AI, helping more people access tools, information and services in the language they know best. We're proud to see this work contributing to a global effort to make AI more accessible, inclusive and useful for communities around the world. Read the announcement here: https://lnkd.in/dkKrR2EW

Through the Microsoft AI for Good Lab's LINGUA initiative, we are working with researchers, organizations, and communities around the world to expand the language capabilities of AI to ensure, one day, everyone can use AI in their own language. Already, LINGUA partners are building open datasets and AI applications for over 60 languages spoken by half a billion people.   This week, Microsoft is proud to be joining dozens of other organizations uniting behind a shared five-year goal: for an estimated 3.4 billion people who speak languages currently underrepresented in today’s AI models to be able to use AI tools in their own language and voice. You can read more about the announcement here: https://lnkd.in/gYMXPQCm

  • As world leaders convene at the United Nations General Assembly to discuss how institutions can evolve to meet a rapidly changing world, one question is increasingly clear: how can organizations expand their impact at a time when global needs continue to grow? Across humanitarian response, human rights, education, and community development, nonprofits and multilateral organizations are being asked to deliver more with finite resources. AI offers a powerful opportunity to help bridge that gap, enabling teams to automate routine work, strengthen decision-making, and focus more of their time on the human expertise that drives meaningful progress. We’re seeing this potential at United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (United Nations OCHA), where digital solutions support the delivery of lifesaving assistance at scale, and through United Nations Human Rights' new Human Rights Data Exchange, which makes vast human rights information more accessible and actionable. We’re proud to collaborate with and support organizations advancing this critical mission work—helping them increase capacity, accelerate outcomes, and amplify their impact.
