Online Opportunities
A common misconception is that students must travel to build international understanding. Yet none of the top five effective approaches to building students’ global competence require students to travel overseas.
Researchers from Harvard University studied more than 11,000 teenagers and nearly 2,000 teachers in Round Square schools. They found that students’ global competence is best developed through:
- learning about different cultural perspectives;
- celebrating cultural diversity;
- discussing world events;
- learning how to solve conflicts;
- volunteering and community service.
