Do you suffer from chronic swelling in your arms, legs, neck, abdomen or genitals? You may be at risk of or have lymphedema. To learn more, Mather Hospital is holding a free lymphedema screening on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 4pm in Conference Rooms 4 and 5.

Criteria to be screened includes:

  • You have persistent swelling for more than 3-6 months.
  • You have been told to wear compression garments/stockings.
  • You have a history of cancer and signs of swelling.
  • You have a family history of lymphedema.
  • You have had a lymph node dissection.
  • You have received radiation.

The Lymphedema Screening Program was established in 1998 and offers the community a team of physical therapists with a combined 50 years’ experience.

Following the screening, Mather will hold a Lymphedema Support Group at 4:30pm in Conference Rooms 4 and 5. During this session, Mather’s lymphedema therapists will teach participants how to get garments on and off with different tools and strategies and share new Medicare guidelines for 2024. The session provides awareness, education, and peer support for anyone with primary or secondary lymphedema. The group welcomes all caregivers, lymphedema therapists, family members and other medical personnel.

Registration is required for both the screening program and the group session.
