On February 21, 2023, we lost our good friend and colleague Allen Overton. As we mourn his sudden passing, we remember his warm smile and his great sense of humor. He was referred to by many as a ray of sunshine when he entered the room and had a way of brightening someone’s day just by spending a short amount of time with them.
Allen would start a conversation with a funny story or anecdotal recollection of the last time he saw you. He also made “fixing computers” fun and always made sure you had what you needed before he left your office and would often ask, “Any problems, questions or concerns?” Allen was an avid gardener and was fluent in American Sign Language. He enjoyed sharing his talents with others.
Allen was loved and appreciated by many members of the Mather Hospital family during his 34-year tenure in the Information Services Department. He will be missed greatly.
In memory of Allen Overton and his love of nature, a memorial garden will be established on the Mather Hospital campus.
