A Harbor View Medical Services physician and a dietetic technician from Food & Dining Services were among the women honored by the town of Brookhaven with Women’s Recognition Awards.

Harbor View Gastroenterologist Ramona Rajapakse, MD, was honored in the medicine category for her special interest in women’s health and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Rajapakse is a proponent of early detection of colorectal cancer through colonoscopy.

Pictured with Dr. Rajapakse were Brookhaven Town Supervisor Edward Romaine, Mather VP for Public Affairs Nancy Uzo, and Executive Director Kevin McGeachy.

Also honored by the town as a community service volunteer for her work with the Girl and Boy Scouts and Rocky Point Middle School PTA was Mather Dietetic Technician Erin Duenas.

Erin is pictured with her daughter, Jade, VP for Administration Michael Burghardt, and Mr. McGeachy.

The Women’s Recognition Awards are given each year by the town’s Division of Women’s Services to women who live or work in Brookhaven and demonstrate excellence in their fields.
