Nurse Educator honored with DAISY Award for going above and beyond

Congratulations to Kim Bauman, RN, Mather Hospital’s latest DAISY Award winner.

On Dec. 2, 2022 a critically ill patient needed to be transferred to South Shore University Hospital. Ms. Bauman, a clinical professional development educator, accompanied the patient to ensure continuity of care.

“Kim Bauman exhibited exceptional leadership, compassion, and initiative during the care at Mather, transfer, and handoff at South Shore. She showed calmness under extreme circumstances as she communicated to family members and nursing administration about the events that were transpiring,” said Marsha Deckman, RN, Director for Nursing Professional Development, who nominated Kim for the award.

The DAISY Award began in 1999 when the family of a terminally ill patient wanted to express their gratitude for the extraordinary care that was given by nurses. The award recognizes nurses who make an enormous difference by the super-human work they do.
