Get to know Tara with this Q&A

  • When did you know you wanted to be a nurse?

I realized I wanted to be a nurse when I was 18 and my grandfather was placed on hospice care. I was fortunate enough to meet some incredible clinical RNs who provided him with the most amazing care while also making sure he maintained his dignity. It was in those moments that I realized I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, and I switched my major from journalism to nursing.

  • What do you like to do when not working?

When not working I like to exercise, bake, go on hikes with my friends and relax with my family.

  • What person or book has had the biggest impact on you and why?

The book that had the greatest impact on me is “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. Despite a terminal diagnosis, the author wrote about what it meant to really live. He shared his wisdom on overcoming obstacles, helping others achieve their dreams and ensuring you seize every moment. It was so inspirational and thought provoking. The people who have had the greatest impact on me are my sisters, three very strong and beautiful women who deeply care for others and who have all made a difference in the lives of those they meet. They are my heroes, and I couldn’t imagine them not being in my life no matter how far apart we live.

  • Favorite place you have traveled or the #1 place on your bucket list to go to and why?

Turks and Caicos is my favorite island. Nothing compares to the ocean there and the island is breathtaking. My bucket list trip is to visit Greece. I would love to learn more about the culture there and get the opportunity to explore the various islands.

  • Aside from necessities, what’s one thing you could not live without and why?

Besides my kids (which I guess is an obvious answer LOL) I would say my golden doodle, Milo, who provides so much unconditional love to our family. I also can’t live without my Peloton. I use my Peloton to de-stress, and I just really love the music and instructors.
