Joseph Bornstein, MD, has joined Mather General Surgery, a practice of Harbor View Medical Services. Double board certified in general and colon and rectal surgery, he has joined Mohamad Abouzeid, MD at the practice, located at 70 North Country Road, Port Jefferson.

Dr. Bornstein has expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques and specializes in lower endoscopy, benign proctology, malignancy, diverticulitis, physiologic and pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and complex abdominal wall hernia repair.

“As a surgeon, I have dedicated my life to healing and improving the lives of my patients,” Dr. Bornstein said. “Joining this new surgical practice at Harbor View is a wonderful opportunity to continue that mission, and I am eager to work with Dr. Abouzeid to provide exceptional care to the community.”

Prior to joining Mather General Surgery, he was the sole colorectal surgeon for the Ascension Medical Group – Providence in Mobile, AL. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he also served as chairman of the board for the Mobile County Health Department.

A resident of Port Jefferson, Dr. Bornstein received his MD and MBA from Tufts Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School and his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, NY.
