Dr. Erin Dainer has joined joining Mather Hospital as our new chair of Psychiatry.

She succeeds Dr. Donna Donoghue, who helped guide the department through COVID and was instrumental in our rapid conversion to telehealth services to ensure that we were able to continue to meet our patients’ needs. Dr. Donoghue is staying with Mather as the Medical Director of our Mental Health Clinic.

Dr. Dainer joins us from Teladoc Health, where she most recently served as the regional medical director for mental health services with responsibility for leading and managing thousands of contracted mental health clinicians.

Dr. Dainer graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Tulane University in New Orleans.  After a brief time at Atrium Health in North Carolina, she joined Stony Brook University Hospital, where she held a variety of leadership roles at Stony Brook before leaving for Teladoc.

A member of the Mather community, she resides in South Setauket with her family.
