Utah ATD

I had a blast at the Utah ATD conference. Somehow I managed to: 🎤 Speak in a breakout session on AI employee literacy, sharing some of the most impactful learning design I've done in my career 💡 Showcase how I use Lucid Software products to teach every day (showing off our newest AI features) 📋 Serve on the planning committee! 🤝 Co-design a brand-new exercise with Jen Crabb, CPTD & Taryn Nenow called "Netflection" (reflection + networking) 🎟️ Bring Jeff Batt's fabulous DreamCrusher prize giveaway app to Utah ATD. The song is still stuck in my head. Send help. 🏇 Teach live and in person again, with no notes on my screen and no quality-controlled lighting. Turns out I still remember how to do this. The keynotes were the real highlight. THE Megan Torrance taught us how to use Agile methods and how to seek the change. Scott Provence taught us about decision-making and heuristics, which I'm immediately applying to my work and my life. And then they BOTH showed up to my session and kept the conversation going about AI. What an honor! Huge thank-you to Kara Wight Burton for becoming a friend and pulling me into committee work. It's always fun to hang out! #UtahATD #LearningAndDevelopment #AILiteracy

Lots of fabulous insights and collaboration at the Utah ATD fall conference! So great to see old friends and colleagues and make new friends! Thanks Megan Torrance and Scott Provence for coming to Utah as our keynotes. ❤️🙏🏻🎇🧨

I’m writing this from the Delta Air Lines Club in Salt Lake City, somewhere in the middle of what can only be described as a conference marathon. So far this stretch has included #Techlearn, #ATDCore4 and #ATDOrgDev, and today Utah ATD. Tomorrow I get to co-host the Association for Talent Development (ATD) #ATDIntensive (which I’ve had the joy of curating as lead with Alexandria Clapp), and on Friday I’ll be at ATD New England. Because that apparently wasn’t enough, I squeezed a Training Magazine Network webinar in there, too, with new author Moe Poirier. You might expect me to be exhausted by now, and I can see why. But I’m actually energized. I’m learning something new in nearly every session, and I’m getting to watch other people learn in real time, which never gets old for someone in our line of work. The hallway conversations, the “wait, tell me more about that” moments, and the people I’ve met and reconnected with along the way have made every leg of this trip worth it. I’ll admit there’s also a lot of caffeine involved. Here's looking at you, Seattle Gummy Company (SGC Pharma Inc.) If our paths crossed this month, thank you for making the miles feel short. #LearningAndDevelopment #ATD #TechLearn #LifelongLearning Meantime, what have you learned already in October?

I use AI all the time, but have found that the best way to really feel proud of any output I create is to do the first version myself. Whether it’s creating trainings, songs, an email, stickers, or whatever, I make sure that AI augments my vision rather than replaces it. It was fun presenting some philosophical thoughts on the matter at the Utah ATD Learning Insights Conference.

I'm always happy to be a sponsor of #UtahATD, our amazing local ATD chapter. Yesterday, we had our annual conference and it was really great, a must attend for any local L&D professional! This year, we had a "netflections" session at the end of the conference led by Sarah Jester which was a wonderful way to process what we learned and commit to taking action. This is a screenshot of the Lucid Software board that Sarah had us work on together during this activity. Thanks to Travis Umpleby Kara Wight Burton Sean Holmes Megan Gutierrez, and the other board members and volunteers! Megan Torrance and Scott Provence gave amazing keynotes And it was great to see friends Richard Vass, CPTD, Jeff Batt and others (sorry if I missed tagging you!)
