Gloria_FortuneGloria Fortune, NP, of Mather’s Partial Hospitalization Program has been accepted into Northwell’s Integrative Certificate Program for Advanced Clinical Providers (ACPs). This one-year program for physician assistants and nurse practitioners will use an innovative, humanistic, integrative approach to introduce ACPs to integrative therapies and skills and facilitate the translation of these practices into self-care, the care of their teams and their patient population.

Gloria said the program aims to help practitioners integrate holistic medicine into their practice such as aromatherapy, meditation, reiki, mindfulness, reflexology, tai-chi and yoga, many of which already are being used at Mather Hospital. “I’m really honored to have been selected to go and very excited,” Gloria said. “I do practice meditation and I have been using aromatherapy, so I want to enhance those therapies for myself. We have been integrating those practices into the work we do.”

Upon successful completion of the program, participants agree to be Wellness Liaisons and develop one project for their patient population. Gloria said she plans to develop more programs for both staff and patients.
